In the middle of Thyborøn is a world-famous small museum - Sea War Museum Jutland.

Sea War Museum Jutland & nbsp; tells the story of the First World War in the North Sea with a focus on the largest naval battle in world history, on the Battle of Jutland, which took place off the west coast of Jutland in 1916.

Just over 100 kilometers west of Thyborøn, 100,000 men on 250 German and British ships fought for supremacy at sea, and the cannon order was so violent that it could be heard ashore. 

In Denmark, the museum is on neutral ground, and already in the front door, the audience is greeted by the museum's motto: "War is a tragedy and should not be glorified, but the story should be told and the victims should be remembered." We have no enemies. It is the war itself, which, is the enemy.

In connection with the museum, a memorial park for the Battle of Jutland has been laid out in the dunes facing the sea, which in the opinion of many is the most beautiful example of "landart" in Denmark. The memorial park consists of large granite blocks that are shaped like a ship's bow and each represents one of the sunken ships.

Many German and British guests visit Thyborøn solely for the purpose of laying a wreath in the memorial park.

The museum is within easy driving distance of most holiday home areas on the northwest coast of Jutland and the western Limfjord.
